Massive Industrial Sliding Security Gates (Killybegs)
Project Location: Killybegs, Co. Donegal
This project for Swan Net Gundry represents one of first largest industrial sliding security gates we built. Located in Killybegs, County Donegal, the site required a massive security solution to protect its perimeter.
Because the entrance was so wide, a standard gate would not work. Therefore, we designed a custom heavy-duty sliding system.
The Challenge: Extreme Scale
The sheer size of this opening presented a unique engineering challenge. Specifically, the gate measures an incredible 5 meters high and 45 meters long.
Due to this massive length, we could not transport it as a single piece. Consequently, we manufactured the gate in three separate sections at our Bellaghy workshop. Then, our team transported them to Donegal and precision-welded them together on-site.
Heavy-Duty Automation
Moving a gate of this size requires serious power. Unlike standard commercial systems, this gate demanded extreme torque.
Therefore, we installed specially sourced heavy-duty automation kits. This ensures the gate opens smoothly and reliably, even despite its immense weight. Ultimately, the system provides robust security for the facility without compromising on speed or access.
